Your responsibilities

Heidelberg Engineering has been developing intelligent imaging and software solutions for ophthalmic diagnostics for over 30 years. Working closely with the medical and research communities, we create innovative systems that are used worldwide and bring about lasting improvements in patient care. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a Software Developer (m/f/d) for medical devices, specialising in UI development, to join our research and development team for our imaging platforms. In this role, you will work closely with experts from various disciplines to design high-performance software architectures for the acquisition and analysis of medical image data. 

Your responsibilities will include, amongst other things:  
  • Developing intuitive graphical user interfaces for visualising test results
  • Implementing workflow logic to ensure an efficient and user-friendly guidance through the admission process
  • Implementing and integrating device and software interfaces (APIs, protocols, data formats)
As part of our agile development model, you will play an active role in every phase of the software lifecycle:
  • Analysing and defining requirements in close collaboration with subject matter experts
  • Conceiving and designing modern software architectures and user interactions
  • Implementing solutions, including accompanying documentation and quality assurance

Your qualifications

  • A degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or a related field
  • Excellent knowledge of C++, C# and .NET, as well as software engineering
  • Experience in developing software for medical devices or in another highly regulated industry sector is desirable
  • Knowledge and practical experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • UI development using a current UI framework (WPF/Avalonia/Uno, Qt)
    • Design patterns and UI architecture patterns, such as MVVM or Unidirectional Data Flow
    • UX/Usability Engineering
    • Client/server communication, e.g. using gRPC
    • Scrum and agile methodologies

  • Fluency in spoken and written German and English
