Your responsibilities

In this role, you will manage and coordinate cross-functional teams (product management, hardware, software, optics, test engineering, etc.) to ensure the development of our new posterior segment diagnostic platform is executed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and regulatory compliance.  You will serve as a central point of communication for all stakeholders and play a vital role in shaping the future of ophthalmic diagnostics.

Project Planning & Execution
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive project plan, including clear milestones, timelines, deliverables, and resource allocations
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Coordinate activities across product management, R&D teams (hardware, software, optics, mechanics, electronics) and external partners to ensure seamless collaboration.
  • Act as the primary liaison between engineering teams and senior stakeholders, ensuring that progress, challenges, and resource needs are communicated promptly and effectively.
Budget & Resource Management
  • Oversee project budgets, tracking expenditures and ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising quality or safety.
  • Propose resource allocation or re-allocation as necessary to meet critical milestones and objectives.
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs to ensure all development activities conform to relevant medical device regulations and company quality standards (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA requirements).
  • Implement risk management strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
 
Communication & Reporting
  • Maintain a communication plan to ensure that business objectives, key milestones and challenges are clearly understood across stakeholder groups.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management, highlighting progress against project milestones, key risks, and any necessary mitigations.
 
Continuous Improvement
  • Facilitate milestone and post-project reviews to capture lessons learned, drive improvements in processes and tools, and enhance future project outcomes.
  • Advocate for best practices in project management, helping to streamline development workflows in R&D.


Your qualifications

Educational Background
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific/technical discipline. A specialized focus on medical devices or ophthalmic technologies is highly desirable.
  • Fluent in German and English.
Project Management Expertise
  • Proven track record managing complex product development projects in a regulated environment (medical device, diagnostics, or pharmaceuticals).
  • Certification in project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) would be beneficial.
Technical Aptitude
  • Familiarity with digital ophthalmic imaging technologies (e.g., OCT, digital microscopy, laser-based devices).
  • General understanding of the safety and regulatory concepts applying to laser diagnostic devices.
  • Ability to understand technical details and communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
