Interactions with KOLs
- Develop professional relationships with the healthcare community, particularly key opinion leaders, through peer-to-peer contact
- Drive a strategic Key Opinion Leader (KOL) plan, cultivating collaborative relationships with current and future thought leaders in academic and clinical medicine at the local, national, and international level
- Facilitate the generation of clinical and preclinical scientific data on company products
- Maintain scientific expertise of company products and, related diagnostic and therapeutic areas
- Provide scientific information and educational support to internal (PMs, R&D, Academy, Sales and Marketing) and external (customers) stake holders
- Provide fair and balanced information on the benefits and risks of products to internal (PMs, R&D, Academy, Sales and Marketing) and external (customers) stake holders
- Obtain feedback and advice about company products or pipeline through peer-to-peer interactions and/or advisory boards
- Spend time in the field to gain market and clinical insights
- Train and develop speakers on the company’s products
- Effectively leverage a KOL relationship to positively position a product along its lifecycle
- Work closely with Marketing team members to drive physician engagement opportunities at key tradeshows
Market Analysis
- Maintain constant surveillance and awareness of the market and effectively identify customer needs and trends
- Maintain awareness of competitive products, potential competitive products, competitors, and competitor capabilities
- Collect and analyze data on competitors and help to organize this data into meaningful information
- Effectively transfer this information to PM team members to be used in the development of a new product
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of proposed products relative to the competition, anticipate competitive responses, and consider competitive actions in the development of sales projections
- Develop and lead execution of comprehensive competitive response plans in conjunction with Marketing team members
Support Research Endeavors
- Act as a conduit for unsolicited, investigator-initiated research proposals by facilitating the approval, completion, presentation, and publication of studies
- Identify investigators appropriate for clinical trials
- Support the Clinical Trials team with study protocol design
- Increase knowledge in the community of product or pipeline research activities
Maintain Scientific Expertise of Products and Related Diagnostic/Therapeutic Areas
- Keep informed of cutting edge research and literature
- Attend scientific meetings and symposia
- Provide synopsis of information presented to internal colleagues
- Gather business intelligence and report back to the company
- Ensure that PM, Clinical Affairs, R&D, Academy, Sales and Marketing colleagues receive internal training by expert external guests and internal colleagues
Provide Scientific Information and Educational Support
- Deliver presentations to the health care community and decision makers
- Support medical or scientific activities at conferences or meetings by way of working with Education team members to create and provide company-approved slides to KOLs
- Assist in the creation of educational materials, including PowerPoint presentations for distribution to doctors, operators, business partners and sales representatives
- Conduct medical educational training for internal team members and partners
- Enable manuscript submissions to peer reviewed journals by guiding, co-authoring, and/or reviewing/editing
- Accountable for management and development of the Clinical Evaluation process, including literature search and generation of a clinical evaluation plan and clinical evaluation report
- Utilize post-market study data and physician relationships to drive national and regional podium presentations
- Work with Marketing, Education and Sales team members to identify messaging of product line in order to determine and communicate educational needs
- Assist in the creation of marketing materials by providing scientific/clinical information, proofreading, and facilitating direct communication links between Marketing team members and KOLs
- Support requests for customer proposals and presentations and ensure all relevant materials exist to support the product
- Assist PM team members in the clear communication of product features and ideas to be implemented by R&D, in Polarion
