Your responsibilities

You will develop new innovative technologies for the acquisition and analysis of medical image data in ophthalmology from prototype to product implementation in an agile multidisciplinary team. Our customers include ophthalmic clinics, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers as well as leading international research groups in ophthalmology.

Depending on your technical focus, you will solve complex problems in one or more of the following topics:
  • Signal processing, computer vision and machine learning for the processing and analysis of medical image data in 2D and 3D (e.g. segmentation, registration, classification)
  • Device control, hardware-related programming and real-time data processing for ophthalmological image acquisition with scanning laser ophthalmoscope (SLO) and optical coherence tomography (OCT) 
  • High performance computing (e.g. multi-threading / GPU computing)
  • Design, implementation and maintenance of software interfaces to our PACS platform
  • Modernisation of existing software architecture
  • Interactive graphical interfaces and programme logic for user guidance through the acquisition and evaluation process

Your qualifications

  • Very good university degree in computer science, mathematics, physics or a related field
  • Very good coding skills in C++
In addition, sound knowledge and extensive practical experience in the following topics are an advantage:
  • Software Engineering (specification, design methodology, test-driven development, clean code principles, refactoring, continuous integration, design patterns)
  • Digital image and signal processing, computer vision, machine learning
  • Real-time data processing and multitasking (inter-process/thread communication)
  • UI development with XAML/WPF in C# and .NET      
  • High-performance computing (parallelisation/GPU computing)
  • Efficient structuring and transmission of large amounts of data according to DICOM standard
  • Applied biomedical optics and imaging
  • Practical experience with Scrum/agile methods and in the development of software for medical devices

  • Confident knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
