Your responsibilities

As Head of Technical Writing Department, you will be responsible for the processes of the Technical Writing Department.

The Technical Writing Department is responsible for the following areas: 
  • Design, planning, creation and maintenance of user and service documentation, 
  • creation and maintenance of production-relevant work instructions and forms, 
  • creation and maintenance of equipment labels, and 
  • translation and terminology management for Heidelberg Engineering. 

Your tasks:
  • Technical, organisational and disciplinary management of the technical department
  • Definition and optimisation of processes in the area of technical editing, taking into account regulatory, financial and project-specific requirements
  • Responsibility for planning and adherence to the budget of the technical writing department
  • Clarifying the flow of information and coordination with other departments (especially R&D, Support, Academy, Product and Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality Management and Regulatory Affairs)
  • Liaison between the department members and the divisional management
  • Clarification with project planning in case of schedule conflicts 
  • Representation of department members in the preparation of documents

Your qualifications

  • Successfully completed degree in technical writing or comparable qualification
  • Many years of professional experience in the field of technical writing with several years of experience in personnel management
  • Very good knowledge of XML-based editing systems 
  • Professional handling of Microsoft Office products and ideally current project planning /ALM tools
  • Very good knowledge of the relevant standards, guidelines and laws
  • Experience in the field of medical technology or other highly regulated areas desirable
  • Very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
